Answer in brief

ChatGPT’s September 29 updates add interactive plugin panels, while Adobe starts rolling out image and PDF editors. Separate identity, usage and purchasing rules determine who can benefit.

OpenAI’s September 29 notes introduce panels and file editors; Adobe confirms a global rollout starting the same day.
Sharing a ChatGPT model allowance is a limited preview for eligible Plus and Pro users and does not increase their allowance.

The conversation gains a working surface

OpenAI’s September 29 release notes introduce interactive plugin panels, sidebar views and editors for supported files. Adobe’s announcement the same day supplies a concrete example: image selections, color adjustments and PDF editing inside ChatGPT. These ChatGPT interactive apps move part of the work from describing an edit to manipulating it alongside the conversation. For people preparing documents or visual material, that is a practical change in where corrections happen.

The development was announced at DevDay on September 29, rather than September 30. Our October 1 source check finds several access states within the wider app ecosystem. A feature announcement, a gradual rollout and a customer-specific purchasing program should each be read on their own terms.

Adobe makes the change visible in an actual workflow

Adobe says users can select an image region, request an edit and refine it with interactive controls. For PDFs, they can revise text or highlight passages and return that selected context to ChatGPT. The company says the update starts rolling out globally on ChatGPT web and app. That wording establishes the start of distribution, without confirming that every account already has the controls.

Consider a designer changing one object’s color, then asking for a revised caption. This is an illustrative workflow, not our product test. Keeping the selected object and current file in the same working context could reduce version confusion. Whether the exported result preserves every detail still has to be checked in the document or image itself.

Access depends on the particular layer

The table summarizes official documentation checked October 1. It compares availability and conditions, not speed or model quality. OpenAI states that plugins retain their applicable account connections and workspace permissions. Finding an app in a directory therefore does not establish permission to use an employer’s files or modify them.

For a team choosing its first workflow, the useful question is whether the required editor, account and action are all available. A polished demonstration cannot answer that for a different workspace. No uniform completion rate or time-saving percentage is published in the sources used here.

Identity and inference are separate decisions

OpenAI’s sign-in guide distinguishes establishing identity from approving additional access. Its release notes separately let eligible Plus and Pro users authorize participating apps to consume their ChatGPT model allowance without an API key. Users can set an app-specific limit; purchased credits require another opt-in. The allowance is shared, so connecting a partner does not create extra capacity.

The practical implication is budgeting across places where work happens. Someone who uses an outside tool heavily may have less included usage for another task. The partner may still charge for its own service. Check both the inference permission and the product agreement before treating a connected app as included software.

The enterprise marketplace changes procurement

The official Marketplace guide describes discovery and expressions of interest, followed by qualification with OpenAI and the partner. Customers contract with the partner, which sends the invoice. OpenAI records the eligible amount against part of the customer’s commitment. Adobe separately confirms that CX Enterprise Coworker is a launch offering in this program.

This gives purchasing teams a new way to evaluate an existing commitment, but it does not make every participating vendor’s product eligible. The guide also separates Marketplace purchasing from using an organization’s OpenAI-funded inference in a partner application. A useful internal record should identify the actual product, approved amount, invoice owner and applicable access rights.

Distribution now has a different point of entry

Our reading of these releases is that conversation is becoming another place to discover and operate software. The compelling benefit is continuity: select material, edit it, discuss the result and continue working. For an app developer, an editor that exposes useful controls may matter as much as a clever tool description.

For readers, the immediate test is simple: can the available integration complete a real document or creative task, and can the result be taken onward? The dated releases establish new interfaces and purchasing routes. They do not establish that conventional app stores have been displaced or that paid services have become free.

Questions and answers

Are all of these features available to every account?

No. Interactive plugins require supported connections and workspace permissions. Adobe describes a rollout, shared allowance is a limited preview, and enterprise Marketplace eligibility is determined for each purchase.

Does signing in give an app access to every conversation?

Sign in with ChatGPT establishes identity. Additional permissions are reviewed separately, so the sign-in itself should not be read as permission to access all chats or connected resources.

Does the shared allowance replace an app subscription?

OpenAI says participating apps may still charge for their own product or services. Model usage counts against the existing ChatGPT allowance, and enterprise Marketplace purchasing is a separate program.
