Answer in brief
As of 15 October 2026, FIPI has published only draft materials for the 2027 Unified State Exam. They change profile mathematics (20 tasks, 33 points), history (22 tasks, 43 points) and the topics of four informatics tasks; nine other subjects stay as they are. The 2027 timetable and the final demo versions have not been released yet.
The Russian EGE 2027 as of 15 October 2026
The Unified State Exam, known in Russia as the EGE, is the country’s school-leaving test and its main university entrance exam at the same time. Wikipedia describes the double role and the organisers: the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI) writes the papers, and Rosobrnadzor, the federal education watchdog, runs the exam with the regions. Russian language and mathematics are compulsory; the other subjects are chosen for the university a student is aiming at. Results are converted to a 100-point scale.
For students who finish school in 2027, the picture on 15 October 2026 is half complete. FIPI has published the materials that describe the Russian EGE 2027, but only as drafts. Rosobrnadzor has not yet released the exam timetable. Some rules are fixed in signed orders and apply every year, while two proposals to change the exam are bills that the State Duma has not passed.
FIPI demo versions for 2027 are still drafts
On 28 August 2026 FIPI announced on its news page that the draft exam materials for 2027 were online. For each subject there is a codifier, which lists what can be tested, a specification, which describes the structure, timing and scoring, and a demo version, a sample paper with answers. On the FIPI download page all of them sit under the heading of projects, and the files themselves carry the word draft on the first page.
FIPI invited teachers and the public to comment by email until 30 September 2026, so that window has closed. The institute has not said when the final documents will appear. The nearest guide is last year: FIPI’s news archive shows that the 2026 demo versions, revised after the same kind of discussion, were published on 12 November 2025. Until the finals are out, any task described below can still be reworded or moved.
Alongside the drafts FIPI published a two-page table of planned changes. It says the adjustments follow an analysis of the 2026 results, take account of changes in legislation and aim to make tasks better at telling stronger and weaker students apart. Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the government newspaper, reported the same table on 28 August, and the legal database Garant summarised it on 31 August 2026.
Profile mathematics in the 2027 draft: 20 tasks and 33 points
Profile mathematics, the advanced level needed for engineering and science degrees, has the largest change. According to FIPI’s table, part one gains task 6, on random variables, probability distribution, expected value, variance and standard deviation, and task 13, on word problems of different types, including problems about personal and family finance. Part two gains task 17, which asks the student to turn a real situation into a mathematical model, solve it and interpret the answer.
The total grows from 19 tasks to 20, and the maximum primary score from 32 to 33. The draft specification gives the new shape: 13 short-answer tasks and 7 tasks with a written solution, and 3 hours 55 minutes for the whole paper. Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported that the basic-level tasks added to part one are meant to make the university entry minimum easier to reach, and that the new part-two task reflects a stronger focus on training engineers.
Basic mathematics, the level that is enough for the school certificate, does not change. Its draft specification keeps 21 short-answer tasks, a maximum of 21 primary points and three hours. Students still choosing a level should compare both demo versions now, since the level is fixed in the exam application.
History and informatics: the other two subjects with changes
In history the paper grows from 21 tasks to 22, and the maximum primary score from 42 to 43. A new task 15 asks the student to work with a historical source on world history. Task 20, numbered 19 in 2026, is reworded to test understanding of historical terms. Task 22, formerly 21, drops world history: the student must give two arguments supporting a stated view on Russian history, and the maximum for it falls from 3 points to 2. The demo version gets an appendix listing the paragraphs of the state history textbooks that cover each task.
In informatics the structure stays the same: the number of tasks and the maximum score do not move. The topics shift instead. Task 10 changes from searching for information with a word processor to using a subnet mask; task 13 changes from the subnet mask to analysing how an algorithm runs; task 23 becomes a task on graphs, such as finding the optimal path or counting paths in a directed acyclic graph. In task 27 the answer becomes one line of two numbers instead of two lines of two numbers each.
Russian language and eight other subjects that keep their format
FIPI’s table lists no changes for biology, geography, foreign languages, literature, basic mathematics, social studies, Russian language, physics and chemistry. For Russian, the compulsory exam everyone sits, the draft specification describes the same paper as before: 27 tasks, 26 with a short answer and one essay, a maximum of 50 primary points and 3 hours 30 minutes.
Izvestia, citing a document seen by the news agency TASS, reported on 11 October 2026 which aids will be allowed in 2027. By that report, there are no aids in Russian, history and social studies; a spelling dictionary in literature; a ruler and the reference sheet in mathematics; a non-programmable calculator in physics, chemistry, biology and geography. Until the signed order appears, that list remains a press report.
The 2027 EGE timetable has not been published yet
On 15 October 2026 the news page of Rosobrnadzor carried no draft timetable for 2027. The dates are set each year by a joint order of the Ministry of Education and Rosobrnadzor. Last year the sequence was quick: Rosobrnadzor announced the draft 2026 timetable on 16 October 2025, and the final order, No. 798/1904, was signed on 7 November 2025. A similar autumn release is likely, but until a draft is posted, any calendar for 2027 is a guess.
The 2026 calendar shows the usual shape. The early period ran from 20 March to 20 April, the main period from 1 June to 9 July, with reserve days from 22 to 25 June, and an additional period from 4 to 25 September. Whether 2027 keeps a 1 June start will be known only from the new order.
Retakes, minimum scores and two bills in the State Duma
Under the rules applied in 2026, as Garant summarised them, a school-leaver who fails one compulsory subject can resit it on a reserve day. Any graduate may also retake one subject of their choice on special days, which in 2026 were 8 and 9 July, and only the second result then counts. A student who fails both compulsory subjects, or fails one twice, moves to the additional period in September.
Two kinds of minimum score apply. For the school certificate, Garant lists 24 points in Russian and 27 in profile mathematics, or a grade of three in basic mathematics. For university entry in 2026/27, order No. 881 of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 14 November 2025 set 40 points in Russian and in profile mathematics, 45 in social studies and 46 in informatics; Kommersant reported the same figures. Admissions in 2027 will need a new order of this kind, and universities may set their own bars above the minimum
Two proposals to change the exam are not law. Interfax reported that bill No. 1211826-8, introduced on 21 April 2026, would allow retakes in two or more subjects; the State Duma’s bill database shows that on 25 May 2026 the education committee returned it to its authors for lack of a government opinion. RIA Novosti reported that on 6 August 2026 a deputy submitted a bill to replace the EGE with state exams from 1 January 2027 if adopted. On 15 October 2026 it remains a bill, so a student preparing for the Russian EGE 2027 should plan for the exam as it stands.
What an eleventh-grader can do before the end of 2026
The first fixed date is the final essay. The procedure approved by order No. 233/552 of 4 April 2023 puts it on the first Wednesday of December, which this year is 2 December 2026. A pass in it is a condition for being admitted to the exams. The same order allows extra attempts on the first Wednesday of February and the second Wednesday of April, which fall on 3 February and 14 April 2027.
The second deadline is the exam application. Under the same order, students list their subjects and choose the level of mathematics by 1 February inclusive; later changes need a documented good reason. That makes this autumn the time to compare the entry requirements of the chosen universities with the subjects on the list, and to settle between basic and profile mathematics.
For revision, the 2027 drafts are usable now in the unchanged subjects, and in profile mathematics, history and informatics they show where the new tasks sit. Check FIPI’s download page in November for the final versions and Rosobrnadzor’s news for the draft timetable. The ninth-grade OGE is changing as well, but it follows its own set of documents.
Practical checklist
- Download the 2027 draft demo version and specification from FIPI for every subject you plan to sit.
- Mark 2 December 2026 for the final essay and keep 3 February and 14 April 2027 as fallback dates.
- Compare your target universities’ entry subjects with your list and choose basic or profile maths.
- File the exam application with your subjects through your school before 1 February 2027.
- Check FIPI in November for final versions and Rosobrnadzor’s news for the 2027 draft timetable.
Questions and answers
Are the 2027 EGE demo versions final?
No. As of 15 October 2026 every 2027 codifier, specification and demo version on the FIPI site is a draft. Public comments closed on 30 September 2026. In the previous cycle the final 2026 files came out on 12 November 2025, but FIPI has not announced a date this time.
Which EGE subjects change in 2027?
According to FIPI’s table of planned changes, only profile mathematics, history and informatics. Profile mathematics adds tasks and one point, history adds one task and one point, informatics changes task topics and one answer format without changing the total.
When will the 2027 EGE timetable be published?
No date has been announced. The timetable is set by a joint order of the Ministry of Education and Rosobrnadzor. For 2026 the draft was announced on 16 October 2025 and the order signed on 7 November 2025, so an autumn release is the pattern, not a promise.
Can a 2027 graduate retake the EGE to improve a score?
Under the rules used in 2026, any graduate could retake one subject of their choice on special days, and only the new result counted. A bill to allow retakes in two or more subjects, introduced in April 2026, was returned to its authors by the Duma committee in May.
Does the Russian language EGE change in 2027?
No. FIPI lists no changes for Russian. The draft specification keeps 27 tasks, 26 with a short answer and one essay, a maximum of 50 primary points and 3 hours 30 minutes for the paper.
